- 3 Minute Thesis Competition

On November 15, 2021, the American Statistical Association (ASA) chapter at WSU hosted the Department of Mathematics & Statistics 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. 3MT is a university-based competition for graduate students to present their research to a lay audience with the help of only a single static slide in three minutes. Several graduate students competed in this departmental competition to challenge themselves to present an elevator pitch of their research. The panel of departmental judges assigned first place to Rachel Perrier and second place to Jessica Dickson with Blake Nelson and Ryan Whitehead each tying for third place. On March 11, 2022, Rachel will present on “Third-degree Analogs to Continued Fractions” and Jessica will present on “The Overlays of Riordan Arrays” at the College of Arts and Sciences level 3MT over Zoom.
