We are excited to share that Dr. Dean Johnson’s session at JSM 2026, “The Most Essential Statistical and Non-statistical Skills in 2026: How to Effectively Use LLMs in Statistical Collaboration Settings,” received the Statistical Consulting Section Best Topic Contributed Session Award. The session brought together a stellar group of statistical consultants to discuss how AI has impacted their work, with Kim Love as the chair of the session and Soumojit Das, Swarnita Chakraborty, Bruce Craig, Chris Franck, and Ryan Peterson as panelists. It included the utilization of private LLMs to enhance efficiency of services, the changes in how we train our consultants and interact with clients, and the innovations in statistical communication. In addition, important ethical considerations were discussed. The session was very well attended, with a lot of great comments and questions from the audience.
